Jesus Bruiser - The Junction, Bristol (09/08/08):
Tonight, Bristol's quirky crust punks Jesus Bruiser steam roll through a defiant and unintentionally catchy set with their usual relentless anger. Splicing together jarring, dischordant guitar with effectively understated bass melodies, each song sounds like it's falling apart at the seams - making way for the dual vocalists to spill their polical guts all over the audience.
Ex-Mingers member Talia adds a more expressive edge to the bands overpowering vocal dimension - and works well in contrast with the guy's gravelly shouts; clubbing together to form an ear-battering effect. Wisely closing with a strong tune that creeps into a blasting climax, Jesus Bruiser deliver enjoyable angular ideas while moshing around in a carefree manner. A refreshing crust-cocktail indeed.
Everlong fanzine #10 (28/06/07):
Local crustcore merchants JESUS BRUISER have got a surprise or two up their sleeves in that they insert some pretty interesting instrumental passages and Andy is proving to be an entertaining front man. Getting better and certainly worth checking out if you like your crust with a bit more imagination. IN THE SHIT were supposed to be headlining having just reformed to play a couple of European festivals and this was supposed to be their warm up but they split up again without really playing a note, leaving THREAT MANIFESTO to top the bill making a decent fist of sounding like MINOR THREAT going a bit heavier.
